Happy Birthday Paul Newman!

So I just realized it was Paul Newman's birthday a few hours ago and I should have posted this earlier because on the east coast it's not his birthday anymore. Anyway, I need to get better about remembering classic actor/actresses birthdays.

So Happy Birthday Paul Newman who would have been 85 if he was still alive. I haven't seen that many of his films, but I really like him a lot. He was a great actor and so very handsome. <3 br="br">

Love is a Many Splendored Thing Review

So I saw Love is a Many Splendored Thing tonight. I thought it was a really great film. It's the second Jennifer Jones film that i've seen. William Holden is amazing as always. :)

I had a feeling that I was going to like it a lot and I did. It was super sad though at the end. I cried. :( I think it was a really great story and the costumes were great and so was the location.

Obviously the song is awesome too. I thought that William Holden and Jennifer Jones had good chemistry together in the movie as well. After I finished the movie, I watched a biography about William Holden that was on the special features of the movie. called Biography: William Holden An Untamed Spirit. It was really interesting and it showed clips from a lot of his films. I really want to see Picnic now. GAH he is just such a good actor. I think he's becoming my favorite. I love you Cary Grant, but I William Holden is taking the number 1 spot. They are both great great actors though and I love all the movies that i've seen them in. I've seen more of Cary Grant's, but I definitely want to see many more of William Holden's.

I thought that Jennifer Jones portrayed Han Suyin very well. Not letting herself feel except the people that she treated and forcing herself not to fall in love with Mark, but then she does(who wouldn't? It's William Holden!) I thought it was a very passionate love story.

17 years ago today...

17 years ago today, my favorite actress, Audrey Hepburn died at the age of 63. :( She will always be loved by her fans and for the person that she was. I'm going to say how much she means to me.

I guess I don't remember the exact year that I started liking her. I thought that I first saw her movies in 2008, but it looks like from posts i've made on other sites and stuff that it was in 2007. I think what it was was that I liked her in 2007, but I didn't really become a huge fan of her until 2008. :) Anyway, I rented like 5 of her movies and the first one that I watched was Roman Holiday. I thought it was really cute and I liked it a lot. Then I saw Sabrina, Funny Face, My Fair Lady and Breakfast at Tiffany's. I was kind of confused by that at first, but then I loved it after I saw it a few more times. After I saw those I went through this Audrey Hepburn/Julie Andrews movie phase where I was trying to see more of their films. So the summer of 2008 when we went to Hollywood I was really into Audrey and so I got a purse of her and saw her star on the Walk of Fame and yeah. She became my favorite actress. Then I got some books about her and everything. She was just such an amazing person and she was so genuine in her films. You could see so much of herself in her roles. Everyone that worked with her loved her.

I love what Robert Wagner said about her in his autobiography: "Audrey was sensational to work with: professional, relaxed, engaging, endearing-the most helpful, loving person you could imagine." "Audrey's essence as a human being shone through her acting and lifted her movies up by yards, not inches or feet. I have never known any woman other than Jill whose personality was so reflected in everything she did." "Audrey's spirit was embodied in her garden, her furniture, her paintings, her jewelry, her dogs, her linens. She absorbed everything she experienced and saw in her life, took it into her subconscious, her soul and then somehow contrived to radiate it outward onto everything she touched." I agree with him. She was so elegant and classy and I just love her so much. I love what she did for UNICEF and how good of a mother she was and everything. She was so cute and had a great sense of humor. She is my role model. She will always be loved and missed. RIP Audrey.
I am also making a video of Audrey, but it's probably not going to be uploaded until tomorrow cause I have been really busy and haven't been able to get it finished.

Miracle In the Rain Review

I was thinking of making this the first movie I saw for the 365 Movies thing, but I don't know. I want to do that. Hopefully I can watch something everyday. I don't know. It will take up a lot of my blog. Maybe i'll just put reviews of movies that I haven't seen before on here and not do the 365 days cause I don't know if I can watch a movie everyday. I might forget or get busy and not be able to. So yeah. I'll just right about new movies that I haven't seen and stuff. :)


So, this movie takes place in New York City in 1942 and stars Van Johnson as Private Arthrur "Art" Hugenon and he's a happy go lucky guy whose dream is to be a newspaperman after the war and he loves the rain He also likes to tell stories. Jane Wyman plays Ruthie Wood, the quiet, lonely woman whose never really been with a man. In a lot of ways I saw myself relating to her character. Well, they meet each other when it's raining out and they spend a lot of time together and he tells her all these stories and he gets a story put in The New York Times and then he has to go overseas for the war and stuff and he tells her to write to him. Well she does and she doesn't hear from him for months. Then she gets a letter that he died and it's really sad. I'm not explaining the movie the best, but yeah. Then she has to take of her mother whose husband left her and stuff. Just watch it if you haven't seen it. lol.

I thought the movie was pretty good. I thought the ending was okay. Maybe could have been a little better. I felt bad for Ruthie. At least she got to see him again in like a dream type thing though. Overall I thought it was a good movie.
